PlayStation London Studios, developer of Blood and Truth and The Gateway, announced today that it is creating an online co-op game set in a fantasy-based version of London, England. While the project doesn’t have an official name yet, the concept art above should give you an idea of what to expect. In a change of direction for the developer, the game will not use any peripherals or gimmicks; This is an out-and-out PS5 game.
while talking to GamesIndustry.biz, co-studio head Stuart White revealed that the team wanted to explore new avenues and tackle more challenges. “We definitely wanted to try something different, and I think this new project really channels our ‘brave’ values and allows us to push ourselves on the ‘curious’ front as well. It’s an exciting future, it really is.”
While the project is a more traditional PS5 title, PS London Studio will still strive to innovate. “If you look at our legacy and the titles we’ve done, there are a lot of firsts. And that will continue.” Sony plans to introduce 10 Live Service games between now and 2026, with the London studio’s co-op venture being one of them. By 2025, Sony estimates that more than half of its overall investment in PlayStation will be through live-service experiences.
The game’s stunning art style from PS London Studio could prove popular as a service space in games, coming after months of planning and brainstorming. “Our big theme is about bringing in elements of the fantastic and magical and connecting them to familiar worlds, and you don’t get more familiar to us than London.” Some other live-service titles Sony has in the works are The Last of Us multiplayer and a rumored Twisted Metal project.
