Some of the games media’s biggest outlets have just lifted the lid on the PSVR2, and it looks like a significant step up from the previous iteration. Sony invited members of the press to test the new visor and controllers, with some time with four upcoming games. From what we’ve gathered so far, it looks like a winner.

The praise is coming for the hardware itself; The headset is light and comfortable to wear, and the cable is a good length without weighing you down. The impressive resolution per eye means it’s ahead of the PSVR1, too Eurogamer’s Ian Higton Having said that it also compares favorably with some PC VR sets. The controller, as expected, is a night-and-day difference compared to the old PS Move Wands.

For sports, the horizon of the mountain seems to be the call star. The preview highlights the level of detail and visual presentation as well as the sheer scale of the machines. The headset’s haptics make it so, when a stormbird flies overhead, you’ll feel the rush of wind in its wake. As we all expected, it looks like it will be the jewel in the crown of PSVR2 at launch.

Other games covered include Resident Evil Village, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution, and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition. The impressions on these PSVR2 titles were less impressive but still positive. You can read all this PSVR2 goodness at PS blog And Eurogamer’s The above coverage.
