Marvel’s Midnight Sun is one of the biggest PS5 releases this week, alongside The Callisto Protocol and Need for Speed Unbound, and outlets have started posting their reviews of the strategy title. To be very clear: these decisions are based on the PC version. The review code for the PS5 hasn’t been made available yet, so you’ll have to wait a while before we offer our own thoughts here. push square.

Still, we can take a look at what other websites are saying and get a good handle on whether the game is any good. The first round of PC reviews suggests this is exactly right, with many positive verdicts posted online. Currently sitting A Metacritic Rated at 86, it is considered one of the best Marvel games out there.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns combines addictive, deep strategy gameplay with a cast of characters that make moments outside of the action as rich and fun as those in it. Missions to advance and a long campaign to bond with Earth’s mightiest heroes make Marvel’s Midnight Suns a modern strategy classic and one of the biggest surprises of 2022.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has surpassed my expectations to be one of my favorite games of the year. With a good Marvel story and the ability to make friends on top of great turn-based tactical battle systems, Marvel’s Midnight Sons is a super experience.

There’s a lot to love about Marvel’s Midnight Sons. Combat offers a rewarding strategic experience, with a deck building card system ensuring that randomness challenges the player, not frustrates them. Also, the variety of missions and the cast of diverse playable characters keep the combat fresh for dozens of hours. But I enjoyed the role-playing elements the most and gave The Hunter a chance to connect with members of the Midnight Suns and Avengers, forming friendships that resulted in powerful abilities that I could take back to the combat side of the game. .

IGN – 8/10

Along with Marvel’s Midnight Sons, Firaxis has put itself in the league of RPG developers like Bioware, Obsidian, Bethesda and Larian. Its innovative turn-based hero battle system takes a while to get going, but once it does, this card game keeps battles fresh, evolving, and unpredictable throughout an epic-length campaign. Makes excellent use of mechanics – killing enemies for increased damage is endlessly entertaining. The supernatural apocalypse story is given emotional weight by the familial relationship between hero and villain at its heart. Forming close friendships with iconic Marvel superheroes that we’ve seen in comics, movies, and games for decades feels forced and awkward, but it can be interesting to learn all of their backstories and conflicts with teammates, and the fact that Almost everything you do outside of combat makes you more powerful in the next fight meaning it’s all worth doing.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is an amazing strategic RPG experience. There are aspects that dampened my experience here and there, yet its most important element captivated me throughout my playthrough. This is a game that should not be missed by strategy game fans, although I admit that the appeal of Midnight Suns depends on whether your palate is open to card-based games. There’s no denying that a significant part of Midnight Suns revolves around unlocking, upgrading and unleashing cards to wreak havoc on enemies and if that’s something that doesn’t immediately blow you away. , then it’s worth your time.
