An unreported piece of Sony hardware that’s been hinted at since last week could be a “cloud-streaming handheld,” according to Jeff Grubb. giant bomb. Overnight, the journalist tweeted about hearing about such a device and then advised fans to “definitely temper those expectations.” Instead of a PS Vita 2, it’s said to be a handheld based around streaming games so you can play them on the go.

It’s important to note that Grub only posted about the rumored piece of hardware rather than reporting on it through his Game Mess Mornings daily show. So, it’s possible that his sources aren’t as sure about the supposed device as Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson.

The website has followed up on its claims and rebranded Jeff Grubb’s post as a Full report, claiming to have details on the device. Codenamed Q Lite, it’s believed to be designed more around the PS5’s Remote Play feature than cloud streaming. It will support a 1080p resolution at up to 60 frames-per-second, according to the article. “The device sports triggers for adaptive haptic feedback and will include what you’d expect from a handheld — volume buttons, speakers, an audio input jack, etc.”

Later reports claim that the device will be released ahead of the PS5 Pro (another rumored piece of hardware). Another thing that Sony has reportedly worked on is a detachable disc drive for the PS5. However, there is no confirmation from the platform holder yet. a rumor PlayStation Showcase Next Summer Game Fest June seems like a good place to make at least some of this hardware public, though.

If the device proves to be genuine, it is designed to use cloud technology to stream games to the handheld rather than playing them natively.
