Rumors of Shin Megami Tensei also Ports have been making the rounds for a long time – even pre-dating the game’s release on Nintendo Switch in 2021 – but they’ve been revived alongside the announcement of the series’ 30th anniversary event. The event will be held in Japan on May 5 and 6.

Now, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the likes of Shin Megami Tensei V jump to other platforms. After all, this is a modern atlas we are talking about. A subsidiary of SEGA, the Japanese publisher has been pushing for broad appeal, bringing games like Persona 5 Royale and its predecessors to all current consoles in recent times.

What’s more, references to the PS4 were spotted in SMTV’s code, and that alone was enough to fan the flames of speculation.

The only issue with this ongoing rumor is that there isn’t original Evidence to back things up. We’ve tried to trace the whispers to their origins, but there’s not much to see. These are mostly just forum posts and social media “insiders” making unverified claims. One particular rumor even said that SMTV was in the works for a PS5 and PS4 launch in 2022 – but that was clearly nonsense.

Again, this can do Happens — especially if Microsoft is paying with another Game Pass deal — but we won’t get your hopes up just yet. As always, we will have to wait and see.
