Rumor: The release date of Final Fantasy 16 will be announced at the Game Awards in December
A release date for Final Fantasy XVI may be announced at the Game Awards, according to a new report from Insider Gaming. Geoff Keighley’s annual event takes place on December 8, and is set to host a number of announcements. The above report states that pre-orders for the action RPG will go live around the same time, which strongly suggests we’ll get a date with a fresh trailer.
Officially, Final Fantasy XVI is on track for a summer 2023 release window. Getting a confirmed date in December would give Square Enix at least five months or so to work on marketing, which sounds about right.
Of course, earlier this month, the developer mentioned that we might get a release date before the end of the year. All fingers immediately pointed to The Game Awards, so we’re inclined to believe it’s almost certainly happening.
