Sony is trying to bring more of its PlayStation IP to smartphones, and here’s another example: The Ultimate Sackboy is a runner game for iOS and Android devices that launches on February 21, 2023. Surprisingly, the game was announced back in September, but has completely flown under the radar until now. It’s a free-to-play release, and you can watch the trailer above.
Instead of creating and customizing your levels, you’ll be racing against Sackboy’s friends along a track, avoiding obstacles and collecting as many bubbles as possible in exchange for costume pieces. Along the way, you can jump, swing and roll along the way. From UK developer Exient, the team also adapted Lemmings for smartphones. If you are interested in playing Ultimate Sackboy, Pre-registration is now available on the Google Play Store.
A press release mentions battling it out in Daily Duel for special rewards, and there will be thousands of clothing items to unlock and upgrade. “With a growing catalog of clothing options being added all the time, you’ll never run out of exotic costumes and accessories to collect!”
Joins the likes of Ultimate Sackboy Wipe the rush as part of a program to bring more PlayStation brands to mobile phones that has been in the works for some time. In August 2022, Sony acquired Savage Game Studios to help with this initiative.
