For many, the highlight of the past week PlayStation Showcase There was an action-packed gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This highly anticipated sequel looks amazing — we saw new abilities and features, we got some big teasers for where the story is going, and of course, it’s visually stunning. While it looks like it’s pretty much ready to roll, Insomniac Games has confirmed that what we’ve seen isn’t the final build of the game.

There has been a lot of hand-wringing among fans, spreading FUD among themselves about the PS5 exclusive’s graphics. Many are pointing to the gameplay demo’s water splashes and other minor assets as evidence that it’s a downgrade over previous entries in the series. Fortunately, Community Director James Stevenson has been able to confirm that the gameplay footage was not the final version.

Responding to a question from a concerned fan, Stevenson shared a single animated GIF:

Obviously, the game still has a few months at least before it’s ready for prime time, and even though Spidey 2 already looks great, polish is almost always left until the final stages of development. In other words, the next time we see it, it will undoubtedly look even better, and closer to the final product we’ll all be playing later this year.
