Strategy series The Settlers made its PlayStation debut today

Like a bolt from the blue, venerable strategy series The Settlers debuts on PlayStation today with a new companion, despite missing its previous March release date to ensure “the best possible experience for players.” It looks like that special arrangement has now been achieved, as The Settlers: New Allies is currently available in the early-bird time zone (Australia confirmed).

Settlers: New Allies features real-time strategy gameplay in the vein of Age of Empires, though possibly much slower in pace, with a larger economic focus (though there’s plenty of combat, too). At least, this was the case with the old games. Thus, the series found a natural home on PC, and as more and more quality strategy games make their way to PS5 and PS4, it seems that the time for the console transition of the venerable franchise is here.
