Street Fighter 6 Evo 2023 is leading the charge for player registrations

With Evo 2023 set to release just months before it kicks off in August, it’s perhaps no surprise that Street Fighter 6 has attracted the most player registrations so far. Capcom’s series has always played a prominent role in the annual event, and its top eight finishes are usually saved for last. In recent years, however, Street Fighter has also have The game suffered a bit of a stumble, with its popularity declining quite significantly over time.

However, its sequel will almost certainly pick up the slack. Street Fighter 6 will arrive when Tekken 7 turns six (on consoles), and Guilty Gear Strive is approaching its second anniversary. There is no doubt that this will be the refresh that the franchise needs – especially in terms of Evo’s numbers.

Speaking of which, Guilty Gear Strive has the second highest penetration at this point, and Tekken 7 is third. Along with Street Fighter V, they made the ‘big three’ at last year’s event, so you’d expect them to retain some momentum.

Behind them, you’ve got Marvel vs. Capcom 3 — serving as Evo’s legacy tournament — followed by Dragon Ball FighterZ (which is getting a revised PS5 version this year), King of Fighters XV, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, and Mortal Kombat 11 in that order. Yes, you read that right, Melty Blood is attracting more players than Mortal Kombat these days. Mortal Kombat 12 can’t come soon enough!

Again, Evo 2023 takes place between August 4 and 6. Tournament registration ends on July 9th, so it probably won’t be long until we get another update on player numbers (although we’ll actually be changing the popularity list a lot from now on). can’t see).
