To say that it’s coming out in May of this year, we’ve seen very little of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Hopefully we’ll get some official updates soon, as leaks are starting to trickle in about Rocksteady’s upcoming action game. A new image of a test build of the title has surfaced online, and it has people worried.
The image originated from 4chan but has been verified VGC According to a source, a menu screen shows the player preparing to take on a chapter of the game’s main story:
Some fans are pointing out various things in the screenshots that suggest it will be full of live service elements. In fact, we can see a battle pass section, which shows different currencies, and some sort of level system on each character, possibly related to gear.
However, VGC’s “Development Resources” clarified the matter a bit. According to the source, the Battle Pass will focus on cosmetic items like skins and outfits. Additionally, the “currencies” near the top of the screen are apparently character-specific XP used to advance each team’s separate skill trees. A final comment from the source states that you “won’t start out debuffed and weak”, you’ll “start out awesome and can be as ridiculous as Arkham Knight’s Batman”.
To conclude, then, it doesn’t seem like there’s much cause for concern. We knew it would feature online co-op, and any modern game with an online emphasis was going to have some live service content. If it’s really just cosmetic stuff, then there’s really nothing to worry about.
Again, we’ve seen very little official footage of the game, so it still feels too early to judge. What do you make of this leak? Don’t go all King Shark in the comments section below.
