We’re on the cusp of summer, and in the land of video games, that almost always means announcements, new game reveals, and more screen time for Geoff Keighley. Developers and presenters are back once again with Summer Game Fest in early June, and usually, the main attraction will be a big showcase full of updates on upcoming games and announcements of new ones. Speaking about the upcoming show, Keighley believes there will be some “huge” things to be particularly excited about.

In an interview on Epic’s website, he doesn’t get into specifics, but says the show has three or four announcements right now that are “very big for this audience.” Obviously, it’s anyone’s guess what they are, but it’s at least interesting to hear that there will be some muscle sports on the show.

The article also notes that this will be the first Summer Game Fest in several years to be staged in front of a live, in-studio audience, which should add to the drama of the event. “In a world of many video events, our live show and fan audience are a key differentiator for Summer Game Fest,” says Keighley. “It adds so much energy to the room that the fans react to the announcements, which allows us to really bring the announcements into the room.”

It also looks like the presentation will be a bit slower paced than the Game Awards. In some cases, instead of showing trailer after trailer, games will get a little more spotlight by having developers come out and talk about them, to “give a little more context around the games.”

We’re certainly excited to see what Keighley has in store for us next month, but before we get to that, here’s PlayStation ShowcaseThat happens this Thursday, May 24.
