Take the legendary Orient Express for a journey into the life of a train – a railway simulator

Simulation games are becoming increasingly cynical, it seems, with developers romanticizing mundane and back-breaking manual labor as some kind of escapist fantasy. We find it endlessly interesting when they succeed, though, as anyone who’s played Powerwash Simulator can attest.

However, this is a new one for you. Train Life – a railway simulator promises to let you play as both a diver and a company manager, and it will be up to you not only to transport passengers and goods in 10 European countries, but also to maintain machinery, hire conductors. Hire, manage their contracts and optimize which routes you take, ensuring everything gets where it needs to go, and on time.

The latest DLC for the game introduces the legendary Orient Express, which will need to be handled the old-fashioned way. Players will need to shovel coal to power the behemoth and manually engage the regulator handle to move the thing. There will be unique scenes created exclusively for Orient Express, and we have to hope that at least one will involve a Belgian detective and a seemingly unsolved murder mystery…
