Take-Two Reiterates GTA 6 Leak ‘Will Not Impact Development’



After a high-profile leak of more than an hour of still-in-development GTA 6 footage, developer Rockstar vowed that the incident would not affect development and that the team would exceed player expectations. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of parent company Take-Two, reiterated this stance during an earnings call, the transcript of which VGC.

Zelnik said on the matter: “In regards to the leak, it was very unfortunate, and we take incidents like this very seriously indeed. There is no evidence that any material property was taken, which That’s a good thing, and certainly the leak won’t affect development or anything like that, but it’s very disappointing and makes us more vigilant on matters related to cyber security.

The footage in question was taken from an alpha build of the game, obtained from an internal Rockstar Slack channel. The City of London Police has arrested a 17-year-old on suspicion of hacking. The teenager is believed to be involved with the Lapsus$ group, which has been accused of hacking similar tech companies like Microsoft, Cisco, Samsung, Nvidia, Okta and Uber.

Other highlights of Take-Two’s quarterly earnings include the colossus of continued sales that is GTA 5, which apparently shipped over 170 million units alone. The franchise as a whole has moved a combined 385 million units in its storied history. The Red Dead Redemption franchise has also proved no slouch, with both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 shifting a combined 70 million units.
