The Chicory team is creating a turn-based RPG called Beastyball
From painting to turn-based volleyball battles, Chicory: A Colorful Tale Studio Finji sure knows how to switch things up between projects. The team revealed their next game, titled Beastyball, during the devs showcase, and it’s a turn-based RPG centered around volleyball. You’ll recruit Beasties, which make up your line-up on the battlefield and are equipped with offensive and defensive abilities depending on whether you have the ball or not.
A press release further explains: “Explore an open world and meet a diverse cast of ranked coaches, each with their own story. You must defeat them and increase your ranking if you want to compete in the Crown Series. So are all the bosses. Revealed on your map from the start and can be defeated in any order. But after defeating each one, the others become more powerful, so it doesn’t matter which one you choose. Either way, you will have a difficult and interesting hike to the top.” All of your animals have unique traits, strengths, and weaknesses to them, so you’ll need to find a mix of fighters that work for you in every situation.
The game has just been confirmed for PC, but a console release will follow. A Kickstarter page will be set up so you can lend your support to the project, but we do know it will be a $24.99 game. Are you interested? Post your first impressions in the comments below.
