The Game Awards will be a small show, but not too much

Game Awards Host Geoff Keighley recently revealed that this year’s show will be “significantly shorter” after listening to years of feedback, but if you think it will result in a tight 90-minute event or so , then you may be surprised in the evening. In a recent Twitch livestream, Keighley said he thinks “it’s probably going to be a two-and-a-half-hour show” as opposed to the nearly 3-hour and 15-minute runtime of last year’s showcase.

While the length of the show still appears to be dependent on the dress rehearsal, the host says the show may run longer depending on the speeches given by the award winners. However he is committed to “trying to reduce the runtime a bit”. Not only is the show longer, but European viewers are made to stay up until the wee hours of the morning — usually between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. if they want to watch everything and find out which game is on. Live of the Year wins.
