The late Lance Reddick will return in Destiny 2, Horizon Forbidden West
Last week brought news of the tragic passing of actor Lance Reddick, perhaps best known in the realm of video games as Commander Zavala in both Destiny and Destiny 2, as well as the mysterious Silens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West.
Developers and fans from both communities have since come together to pay their respects. Reddick’s legacy will continue in Destiny 2, with Bungie saying it “plans to honor his presence through his performance” in one Blog post.
The studio succinctly summarized Reddick’s impact on the series, writing, “Lance brought to life a character who has truly become synonymous with destiny itself. For nearly a decade, patrons around the world have adored Zavala. has found purpose and comfort in the presence of, encouraged. That incomparable voice, full of such strength, ease and nobility.”
In the context of Horizon Forbidden West’s upcoming Burning Shores DLC, we learned in this trailer that Silen is, indeed, returning, if only to give Aloy her infuriating quest. The character could still play a bigger role, but we’ll have to wait until Burning Shores’ April 19 release to find out.
Seeing the actor’s as-yet-unseen work will be wonderful, even if it’s likely to feel more trivial than originally planned. How do you think Reddick will be memorialized in Destiny 2, and how big of a role do you expect Silens to play in Burning Shores? Let us know in the comments section below.
