The Modern Warfare 2 beta is the largest in Call of Duty history

Activision has announced that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta that took place over the past two weekends was the largest in the entire history of the series. It had more players than any other, the most hours spent playing it, and the beta had more matches played across all platforms than any previous pre-release test.

The beta was previously only available to PS5, PS4 players who pre-ordered the game, but then it opened up for everyone to try, including Xbox and PC users. Cross-play was a feature tested during the second week of availability, but due to cheaters and hacking, many PlayStation users turned the option off. This is something that many console players did war zoneAnd will likely do it again in November after the sequel is released.

Still, while Activision stopped short of sharing actual figures, these readings prove promising for the game and its expected longevity. After Call of Duty: Vanguard failed to light up the world with poor sales compared to previous entries, Modern Warfare 2 is shaping up to be a return to form.

Our recently published hand on The beta piece as a whole was very positive; We’re looking forward to playing the full game and Warzone 2 next month. The single player campaign will arrive a week before that on October 21, 2022, and if 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is anything to go by, it will be another blockbuster.
