The next title in Supermassive Games’ development may deviate from the teen horror genre

Until Dawn and The Quarry developer Supermassive’s next game is currently in development, has a tentative release window of 2025 or 2026, and will be about the same size as previous games. Interestingly, it may even veer away from the well-worn territory of teenage horror.

In an interview with VGCStudio director Will Biles revealed some interesting tidbits that have piqued our interest:

“We have started working [the next game]. I can’t tell you much about it, but we’ve started. Again, it’s the same horror genre we’re used to. It’s about the same size as The Quarry… and that’s about as much as I can say without giving too much away. Maybe we can be a little bit… I don’t know how far we can push the teenage horror thing, because especially when we try to encourage it, you The number of surprises that can be added is limited.”

Biles further hints that whatever this new direction may be, it will also differ from the various explorations of the genre that have been made in the more bite-sized Dark Pictures anthology series. Additionally, the change from the seven years between Till Dawn and The Quarry is expected to be minimal:

“The Dark Pictures explores hundreds of variations of the horror genre. What we’re seeing now, and I can’t tell you exactly what it is, is a little bit off that kind of standard, but it’s still very classic horror. “

“No, it certainly won’t be seven years until morning [and The Quarry]It will be 2025 or maybe 2026.

What aspect of horror would you like to see Supermassive tackle next? We’ll be waiting years to find out, so in the meantime make wild guesses in the comments section.
