Here’s an announcement we didn’t expect today. EA just announced The Sims 4, the hugely popular life sim, will become free-to-play in the near future.
Posting on their social channels earlier today, the publisher confirmed that the base game will be free on all platforms starting October 18, 2022:
Of course, the game’s countless post-launch content packs will not Stay free, so you’ll still need to cough up if you want them, but the basic Sims 4 experience won’t cost you anything to get going. Developer Maxis says it will continue to support the title with even more DLC in the future, so the long-running game isn’t done yet. More details will come during the special stream that will air on October 18.
