The Witcher 3 update stealthily adds new Witcher Gear Swords

The latest update for The Witcher 3 on PS5 has made some undocumented changes to one of the game’s merchants. More specifically, there is a sword vendor in Novigrad who had his iconic greeting removed in the ‘next-generation upgrade’.

Back on PS4, they famously, “High level swords!” Every time Geralt spoke to him — and fans were saddened to see that line replaced with a generic sales pitch in the Complete Edition. However, to everyone’s satisfaction, the recently released patch 4.01 reintroduces the cute dialogue. We guess CD Projekt Red really listens to the community.

But the developer did not stop there. As it turns out, our favorite merchant now sells some new swords — namely the Witcher’s Steel Sword and the Witcher’s Silver Sword. Both are relic tiers, and the level at which they appear seems to be based on Geralt’s own character level. As such, even if you are deep into the game, you can go to the shop right now and they should have good attack stats.

The new blades are actually based on the game’s E3 2014 trailer, which showed Geralt with two sword (and scabbard) designs that didn’t make it into the finished release. With this update, they can finally be yours. Well, kind of.
