XCOM director broke heart, confirming no new titles in development at this time
Jake Solomon, creative director of the rebooted XCOM franchise and the recently released Marvel’s Midnight Sons, has admitted something we all knew in our hearts but still stung regardless: great strategy game developers. Not currently working on a new XCOM game.
while talking to VGCSolomon was asked if there were any plans to continue the series, with the last mainline entry in the franchise being 2016’s excellent XCOM 2 . Solomon replied, “Of course, you can ask (laughs), you can add your voice to the chorus. Coming out of the hills. I personally have no idea about it at this point and I Saying that because, really, yesterday I was working on Morbius’s Abe’s outfit and colors, I’m not working on it. I have no secrets. Agenda, I need something about XCOM right now. Don’t know.”
A PC-only spin-off called XCOM: Chimera Squad was released in 2020, and since then, Soloman and the team at Firaxis have completely developed Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a take on the strategic game design of the XCOM series. shares some elements. Marvel’s Midnight Sons will be supported with DLC for the foreseeable future, the first of which (released on January 26) added Deadpool to the game as a playable character.
