Elon Musk became owner and model GG Hadid quit Twitter, says ‘It’s not safe anymore’

Mumbai: Hollywood model Gigi Hadid has quit Twitter, announcing it’s no longer a safe place for anyone after Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion. The 27-year-old supermodel took to her Instagram Story to tell her 76 million followers that she is no longer on the micro-blogging platform. Apart from that, the actress has also called Twitter a cesspool of hate and bigotry.

GG wrote of Allen: “It’s becoming more and more a cesspool of hate and bigotry and it’s not a place I want to be a part of.” Along with his statement, GG also included human rights lawyer Shannon Raj Singh’s tweet about his split from the tech giant.

Shannon’s message read: “Yesterday was my last day on Twitter. The entire human rights team has been removed from the company. I am extremely proud of the work I have done to implement the Guiding Principles of United Nations on trade and human rights in order to protect these people.”

Twitter laid off nearly half of its employees on Nov. 4, sending out an email saying the cuts were necessary to help the company succeed. Aside from GG, several famous names have also decided to leave the scene, including Sara Bareilles, Toni Braxton, Mick Foley and Grey’s Anatomy screenwriter Shonda Rhimes. Musk officially became owner and CEO of Twitter on October 27.
