New Delhi: When “Avatar: The Way of the Water,” the sequel to James Cameron’s “Avatar,” hit theaters around the world last month, people were drawn to the magical world of Pandora. ‘Avatar 2’ also set a new record by earning a huge amount at the box office. According to the media, the film’s global collection exceeded $2 billion, or more than Rs.162 billion.
James Cameron’s film created a new history in the cinema world this weekend. ‘Avatar 2’ was released last December. The film has remained number one for the past 6 weeks. According to Box Office Mojo’s report, 2009’s “Avatar” is the highest-grossing movie in the world.
Now another Cameron film has joined the $2 billion club. Besides “Titanic”, three other films are part of this club, including “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” from 2015, “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”.
James Cameron, 68, is the only director to have three of his films among the six movies that have grossed over $2 billion. If reports are to be believed, the director plans to release at least three more “Avatar” sequels in the future. The cast of “Avatar 2” includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet and Stephen Lang. The film was released on December 16, 2022 in cinemas around the world.
