Battlefield is arguably one of the most famous FPS game series with a total of 11 titled games and numerous expansion packs. The most recent iteration of the game, Battlefield 2048, was released in November 2021 and was the developers’ first attempt to create a cross-platform game.

Sadly, the game didn’t perform that well and received a mixed review from critics and a negative response from gamers due to glitches, lack of features, and more, yet, it managed to sell over 4.3 million copies in the first week.

However, that was in the past, and now, the developers are looking forward to releasing the next iteration of the game, Battlefield 2042 season 2.

The Season 2 of Battlefield 2042 is named Master of Arms and will be released on August 30, 2022, confirmed officially by EA and Dice. Battlefield 2042 Season 2 – New map, weapons, gameplay, story, and more

Battlefield 2042 season 2’s map is named Stranded, which is set in Panama Canal, featuring a desert lake fully drained of water. The trailer starts with a voiceover followed by players fighting around and inside a beached container ship named “STARG.”

In the trailer, we see a new Specialist, Charlie Crawford, with a mounted stationary minigun, which can be planted at any point and controlled by any soldier on the battlefield. In addition to that, he can also revive players and refill their gadgets and ammunition.

Battlefield 2042 Season 2 New Features

Talking about the new stuff, Battlefield 2042 season 2 is going to have a bunch of new vehicles, weapons, and other things. Let’s start with weapons –

Battlefield 2042 season 2 will be having three new guns that include –

  • AM40 Carbine – It is a completely new gun that stands between an assault rifle (AR) and a submachine gun. This gum will allow you to change the firing style, add enhancements, and more.
  • Avancys – It is a light machine gun. No further information about this gun has been released yet.
  • PF41 – It is a combination of an SMG and a hand pistol.

In addition to that, the game is going to have concussion grenades that can help you temporarily confuse your enemies.

Battlefield 2042 season 2 is also going to have new vehicles that include –

  • EBLC-RAM – It is a four-seater vehicle that can also be used as a spawn point if the player places a beacon on it.
  • Polaris RZR – It is a lightweight buggy.

Additionally, Battlefield 2042 season 2 introduces a new feature named Assignments. However, this feature is nothing new in terms of concept, as it will only track your progression and allow you to unlock new weapons that were available on the Battlefield Portal only.

Currently, there are only two weapons that can be unlocked that include, M60E3, and M16A3, but Battlefield has promised to add more in the future. In addition to that, this Assignments feature can also be used to unlock vehicles, weapons, and Specialist characters from season 1, which is the best thing, in my opinion.

What’s more in the game?

The developers of the game understand that due to their new experiment, the game had to struggle. However, the developers said that “they are learning from the struggles and will apply those lessons to make the upcoming Battlefield game better.”

They even released a reworked version of the Kaleidoscope map, saying, “Kaleidoscope has been reworked to offer an improved gameplay flow through new cover assets, flag positions, terrain elevations, and visual updates to several locations on the map.”

In addition to that, the game studio also announced their plans for the season 3 update saying, “The arrival of Specialists in Battlefield 2042 has been polarising. We have heard you. So, in Season 3, we’ll be moving Specialists into the classic and familiar Battlefield class system..

Alexia Christofi, the producer of the game, further added, “They’ll have traits available to all Specialists within a given class, with existing open gadgets and throwables split between classes to fit their role.”

Final Words – What do you think about Battlefield 2042 Season 2?

Season 1 of Battlefield 2042 was disappointing to me, and I am looking forward to this season 2 with hope. The trailer and other things so far look quite promising, and most importantly, it feels exactly like what we are used to seeing from Dice and EA.
