The Chess Olympiad Torch Rally reached Meerut late on Saturday evening. The Torch Rally was well received in many places around the city. A grand welcoming ceremony was held in the Aughadnath temple, during which the children also made cultural presentations. PAC and army bands also hosted the rally. The rally departed for Meerut in Ghaziabad. This rally will travel to different parts of the country until July 28 to raise awareness about chess.

The organizers said that after 100 years, this Chess Olympiad now has the opportunity to be held in India. He said that if the Chess Olympiad torch went anywhere in the world, it would only go to India. The Chess Olympiad will be held in Mahabalipuram, India, from July 28 to August 10, in which 187 countries will participate. On the theme of Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, this torch will also be shot in 75 districts of the country. Chess is said to have been made from Chaturanga, which today is accepted worldwide.
