A ‘star’ 30 times bigger than the Sun has reached the point of sinking, NASA’s Webb Telescope has captured a beautiful image
Cape Canaveral. US space agency NASA’s Webb Space Telescope has captured a rare, transient phase of a star that is on the verge of dying. NASA also shared her photo on Tuesday. In this image, we see things like dust and gas flying between the stars. The dying star’s official name is WR-124. It was about 30 times larger than the Sun.
Macarena Garcia Marin, a European Space Agency scientist involved in the project, said we had never seen this before. It’s really exciting. “The Webb Space Telescope” was put in place at the end of 2021, after which it is its first observation.

A rare view of the Wolf-Rayet star – the brightest, most massive and faintly detectable star among stars – was one of the first sightings made by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope in June 2022. Webb shows that STAR WR 124 looks phenomenal with its powerful infrared instruments. This star was 15,000 light years away.
Stars such as WR 124 also serve as an analogue to help astronomers understand an important period in the early history of the universe. These dying stars first gave preference to the heavy elements of the young universe. Elements that are now common in the current era, including Earth.
