The plight of minorities in Iran
The report indicates that the Baha’i community is one of the most harshly persecuted religious minorities in Iran. America believes there has been an increase in arrests on the basis of religion in Iran this year. Besides Christian converts and atheists, Sunni Muslims are also persecuted in Iran. More than 300 people have been killed and 14,000 arrested in the violence that has erupted since the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurd from the country’s minority community.
