“Democracy Festival is coming to India…” Prime Minister invites G20 members
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the G-20 tourism ministers meeting through virtual media. During it, he said that at the time of the reception, we will organize more than 200 meetings in 100 different places of the country. We aim to preserve our cultural heritage and create world-class infrastructure for the tourism sector. The Prime Minister said that I am pleased that we also recognize the relevance of the tourism sector to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Prime Minister also invited G20 countries to observe the Lok Sabha elections to be held in India next year.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said: “We are working on 5 interrelated areas of Green Tourism, Digitalisation, Skills Development, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) Tourism and Destination Management. This shows our priority. We must make maximum use of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to promote innovation.
“Terrorism divides, but tourism unites”
The Prime Minister further said that after the development of infrastructure in Varanasi, the number of tourists increased tenfold. Within a year after the construction, 27,000 tourists arrived to see the Statue of the Unit. He was informed that the theme of India’s hosting of the G-20 was retained as Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam “One Land, One Family, One Future”. It can become the ideal of world tourism. The Prime Minister said: “They say terrorism divides, but tourism unites. Tourism has the potential to connect people from all walks of life, creating a better society.

The Prime Minister said: “There is a saying in the ancient scriptures ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ which means the guest is like God and this is also our approach to tourism. Tourism in India is not just a question of tourism but it is a profound experience I am happy to note that a G-20 tourism scorecard is being developed in partnership with UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) .

Narendra Modi said that India is a country of festivals. There are festivals throughout the year. “Sao Joao” festival is coming to Goa soon, but there is another festival you must visit, “Democracy Festival”. Lok Sabha elections are due to take place in India next year. One billion voters will celebrate this holiday for more than a month. This testifies to his firm belief in democratic values.
