According to CNN, at around 8:25 p.m. (local time), police received reports of shots being fired at the music festival. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred at a campground near the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington. The suspected shooter fled the scene, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Kyle Foreman. The foreman said the suspect opened fire on the crowd as they fled. However, he was later taken into custody.

Foreman said the George Amphitheater at the time hosted a two-day music festival called Beyond Wonderland, and the campground was located several hundred yards from the site. The Beyond Wonderland festival continued despite the shooting. The campsite also released a statement after the incident. The campsite said in a tweet on Saturday evening: ‘Please avoid the George Gate H campsite area as it is controlled by local authorities and closed due to an incident.’ There is no threat to the festival or the campgrounds.

The day’s performance was canceled after the incident.
On Sunday morning, the festival announced the cancellation of the day’s performances. Beyond Wonderland said: “Due to last night’s incident at the Overflow Camping Area, we regret to inform you that day two of Beyond Wonderland in George has been cancelled.” The statement further said that “we would like to thank the local authorities and staff, who acted quickly to manage the situation.” Our condolences go out to the family of the victim and to all those affected by this tragic incident.
