Erdogan, PM Modi, Putin, Biden re-elected president in Turkey, received congratulations from world leaders

Istanbul. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan entered his third decade as head of state by winning the toughest election in his 20 years of continuous rule. Congratulating the Turkish President on his historic victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “I am sure that our bilateral relations and cooperation on global issues will continue to grow in the times to come.” On this occasion, he receives congratulations from world leaders. The country is now recovering from severe inflation and the devastation caused by the earthquake.

The third term will strengthen Erdogan not only domestically but also internationally. The outcome of this election will not be limited only to the country’s capital, Ankara. The head of Turkey’s electoral commission has declared President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the winner. Erdogan thanked the nation for this. Putin congratulated the first
Russian President Vladimir Putin was among the first to congratulate Erdogan after his re-election. According to the Kremlin website, Putin said that “your victory in this election is the result of your dedication and hard work leading the Republic of Turkey.” At the same time, the European Union and the NATO military alliance also congratulated him on his victory in the re-election. The Turkish president has been in constant conflict with NATO on many issues. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg tweeted that “President Erdogan, congratulations on your re-election win, I look forward to continuing our work together and preparing for the NATO summit in July.” Turkey is also a member of NATO.

European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tweeted: “I congratulate Erdogan on his election victory, I look forward to continuing to build EU-Turkey relations.” It is important that Turkey and the EU work to move this relationship forward for the benefit of our people.

Many world leaders including America, Britain congratulated
US President Joe Biden congratulated the Turkish president and said he wanted to continue working together as NATO allies on bilateral issues and common global challenges. However, Biden made no mention of the recent strain in bilateral relations. While congratulating Erdogan, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak highlighted the ongoing security cooperation between the two countries. He tweeted: “Congratulations President Erdogan, I look forward to continuing the strong cooperation between our countries as NATO Allies, from growing trade to countering security threats.”
