Houston. A giant asteroid 290 feet in space is moving very quickly towards Earth. The American space agency NASA has warned about this. However, NASA also said that this meteorite poses no danger to Earth, as it will pass through it.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) said the 290-foot-wide asteroid has been named 2022 YH3. This asteroid is moving towards Earth at a very fast speed of 58572 kilometers per hour or let’s say 16.26 kilometers per second. However, there is nothing to panic as this asteroid YH3 will pass at a distance of about 72 lakh kilometers from the Earth today i.e. on January 14, 2023.

Besides asteroid 2022 YH3, NASA’s JPL reported another asteroid named 2014 LJ. This 2014 LJ asteroid is 22 feet tall, the size of a bus. This asteroid moving at a speed of 12,528 kilometers per hour will cross a distance of about 18 lakh at 20,000 kilometers from the Earth.

Asteroids are also sometimes called minor planets. These are the rocky, airless remnants left over from the early formation of our solar system around 4.6 billion years ago. Some of them are quite large (up to 530 kilometers in diameter) while others are relatively small (less than 33 feet or 10 meters). According to NASA, information on more than 11 lakh asteroids has been received so far. Due to the gravitational pull of our Earth, some of these asteroids are heading towards our planet.
Of these, small asteroids are burned up in space due to atmospheric friction, but some of these large asteroids reach the Earth’s surface. The collision of a huge asteroid into the earth can be extremely dangerous.
