Santa Clara (USA): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is touring the United States these days. A group of Khalistan supporters wave flags and shout slogans during Rahul Gandhi’s speech at an event in California. This interrupted his speech for a while.
Rahul Gandhi was speaking at the “Mohabbat Ki Dukan” program organized by the “Indian Overseas Congress USA” in Santa Clara on Tuesday. At the same time, some people in the audience started shouting slogans against him and the Gandhi family in relation to the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. In response to the slogans, an unfazed Gandhi smiled and said, “Welcome, welcome.. .the shop of love in the market of hate.”
The 52-year-old former Congress speaker then joined his supporters in the audience and responded with slogans of “Join India”. He said, “We’re not going to get angry or aggressive. We are going to listen to them properly, in fact we are going to be affectionate towards them, have feelings of love towards them. Because it is our nature.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya shared a clip of the incident on Twitter, writing, “Slogan in front of Rahul Gandhi in America for 1984 Sikh Genocide (initiated by Congress)… such hatred has been triggered, which is not yet extinguished”.

Reacting to Malviya’s remarks, Congress spokesman Supriya Shrinate asked him why he was favoring pro-Khalistan elements to oppose Gandhi. He tweeted: “By the way, if you had listened to (the clip) a bit more, you would have seen how the people who wanted Khalistan responded by waving slogans of ‘Join India’. Once you also take the flag tricolor in your hand and say out loud “Jodo-Jodo, Bharat Jodo.” Believe me, a traitor like you will love him too.
Rahul Gandhi arrived here on Tuesday on a three-city tour of America. During it, he will interact with the NRIs and meet with US MPs.
