hong kong, These days, there has been a significant increase in information about cybercrimes. Scammers are coming up with new ways every day to steal people’s hard-earned money through text messages, social media or other websites. In another bizarre incident, a man was tricked out of more than Rs 14 crore when his Tinder match turned out to be a cybercriminal. The man was tricked into investing in digital money by his Tinder “boyfriend” and largely duped.

According to a report by Financial Express, the victim of the scam is a 55-year-old Italian living in Hong Kong. He met someone on Tinder and started a digital romantic relationship with that person. The pair stayed connected on Whatsapp. However, it was later revealed that his Tinder match was a Singapore-based scammer who spoke to him in the form of a woman. According to some reports, this incident took place in mid-February.

According to the news, after the relationship developed between the two, the scammer tricked the victim into logging into scam trading websites to invest in digital money. The Financial Express quoted a source who allegedly told the South China Morning Post: “The victim was told that investing in digital cash can yield high returns.”

The report further revealed that the man eventually transferred a total of 14.2 million Hong Kong dollars to nine different bank accounts, which is more than 14 crore rupees in Indian currency. Police said the amount was withdrawn in more than 22 transactions that took place between March 6 and March 23. Having failed to recover the money, the victim realized something was wrong and then contacted the police. In a similar incident reported by CBS News in February this year, a woman lost $250,000 (over Rs 2 crore) after being tricked into investing in cryptocurrencies by her boyfriend whom she met on the Hinge dating app.
