Kathmandu. Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday appointed Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” as the country’s prime minister. Prachanda was a Maoist guerrilla before joining politics. He rebelled for a decade against the Hindu kingdom of Nepal. He is currently president of the CPN-Maoist Center. In a statement released by the office of the president, it was said that Prachanda, 68, was appointed Prime Minister of Nepal under Article 76 Clause 2 of the Constitution.
Under this constitution, the president can appoint that deputy as prime minister from among all the deputies who can prove a majority with the support of two or more political parties. Prachanda claimed the post of prime minister before the deadline given by the president and applied. The president had given time until 5 p.m. Sunday for this. The swearing-in ceremony of the new Prime Minister of Nepal will take place at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Prachanda has the support of 165 MPs in Nepal’s 275-member parliament. It includes 78 members of the CPN-UML, 32 of the CPN-MC, 20 of the RSP, 14 of the RPP, 12 of the JSP, 6 of the Janmat and 3 of the civil immunity.
An emergency meeting was held at the home of former Prime Minister Oli. At this meeting, everyone agreed to form the government under the leadership of Prachanda.
