Washington. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that American Indians have come a long way in America. Speaking at the State Dinner held at the White House, he said: “People of Indian descent, full of pride in Indian values, India’s democratic traditions and our culture, have received continued respect in America . These people have played a very important role in strengthening America’s inclusive society and economy.

Prime Minister Modi also thanked President Joe Biden for hosting a state dinner in his honor. He said: “I express my deepest gratitude to President Joe Biden for hosting this wonderful dinner today. I am especially grateful to Dr. Jill Biden for the personal attention she gave to the success of my visit. I warmly congratulate him on today’s great event.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi also mentioned his 2014 visit to America. He said, “I don’t want to talk any further about India-America relations. When you hosted a banquet for me in 2014, coincidentally it was my 9 day Navratri fast, and then you repeatedly asked me if you wouldn’t eat anything? You were also very worried about this. I think at that time your wish to nourish me with love comes true today.

Prime Minister Modi also recalled those past times when Biden was the Vice President of the United States. He said: “I first met you almost ten years ago when you were vice-president, even today I see the same commitment and depth in you. You are simple in speech but strong in action and I understand that Dr. Jill Biden has been a major contributor to your journey.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said, “Jill Biden and I had a great time with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.” Tonight we celebrate the great bond of friendship between India and the United States of America. Prime Minister Modi is on a state visit to the United States from June 21-24 at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
