At an event outlining joint education and workforce priorities of India and the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) said the two countries needed a “pipeline” of talent to maintain the pace of development. Modi attended the “Skilling for the Future” event hosted by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on Wednesday, where he was hosted by First Lady Jill Biden.

The Prime Minister highlighted India’s initiatives to promote education, research and entrepreneurship. Prime Minister Modi said that I am really happy to have had the chance to interact with young and creative people here. India is working on many projects in association with NSF. I thank First Lady Jill Biden for organizing this event.

Regarding the skills mission of his government, the Prime Minister said that education, skills and innovation are necessary for the bright future of the youth and India has been working in this direction. Addressing those present at the programme, Modi said the National Education Policy (NEP) has brought education and skills together. Over 5 crore people have been trained under the proficiency mission and another 1.5 crore people are being trained on the latest and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.

He said that to keep pace with development, it was necessary “to ensure the ‘pipeline’ of talent to India and America” ​​and he aims to celebrate this decade as the “tech decade”.
