Moscow, President Vladimir Putin has fired the infamous Russian military officer for his brutal tactics in the war in Ukraine. According to a New York Post report, Russian President Vladimir Putin has fired several senior officials, including General Mikhail Mizintsev. Mikhail Mzintsev has been dubbed the “Butcher of Mariupol” due to his brutal tactics during the Ukrainian War. News of General Mizintsev’s ouster was posted on Telegram by Alexander Sladkov, a correspondent for the Russian state newspaper Izvestia.
No reason was given for terminating 60-year-old Mizintsev’s service as deputy defense minister, Izvestia reported. Mizintsev besieged the Ukrainian city of Mariupol in the early months of the war last year. In September, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense in charge of Logistics and Supply. Imposing sanctions on Mizintsev last June, the European Union branded him the butcher of Mariupol and said he was responsible for the inhuman siege of the shattered Ukrainian city, which Russia says is rebuilding.
Please say that Putin made a surprise visit to Mariupol in March. It was his first visit to a territory conquered from Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion of Moscow. He drove around town. Meanwhile, Putin visited a renovated musical theater and saw a report on the reconstruction work. Significantly, Russia occupied more than a sixth of Ukraine, but suffered heavy casualties during the 14-month war.
