One-way air tickets issued from Russia register a 27% increase

According to airline ticket data from Spanish company ForwardKeys, released on Tuesday, there was a 27% increase in the number of one-way airline tickets issued from Russia.
Comparing bookings from September 21 to September 27, the company found that the share of one-way tickets issued rose to 73% the week of the announcement, from 47% the previous week. Olivier Ponti, Vice President of Information at ForwardKeys, said: “These numbers are quite remarkable and relate to reports of a sudden increase in ticket sales at the time.” Additionally, the company said the average departure time in the country has dropped from 34 to 22 days.

All flights from Russia to Turkey and Armenia were sold out a day after Putin announced the mobilization. There is no visa requirement for citizens visiting both countries. In such a situation, the tickets of all airlines to both countries were already sold out. At the same time, the flight being full, there was an unexpected increase in their fares. Data from Google Flights shows one-way fares to Turkey have risen to around 70,000 rubles ($1,150) from just over 22,000 rubles a week ago.
