This visit by Zelensky is compared to the recent public appearance of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin traveled to Minsk on Monday for the first time in more than three years to meet his longtime ally, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko. Amid the growing threat of another possible attack on Ukraine from Belarusian territory, the two leaders also discussed strengthening military cooperation.
