Meanwhile, Rajapaksa left the country on July 13. It is now believed that he will return home.

It should be noted that after the ousting of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Parliament of Sri Lanka appointed Ranil Wickremesinghe as the new president. According to the media, Wickremesinghe has made arrangements for Rajapaksa’s return. Sri Lankan Podujana Peramuna, led by the Rajapaksa family, had asked to make arrangements for Gotabaya’s return.

Rajapaksa (73) renounced his American citizenship in 2019 to run for president. Rajapaksa took early retirement from the Sri Lankan military and went into the field of information technology. After that, he immigrated to America in 1998. He returned to Sri Lanka in 2005.
