Because US-China relations have soured in recent months.
It should be noted that recently, China has strongly criticized the attitude of the Biden administration towards Taiwan. The Chinese president also suggested that Washington seeks to rein in Beijing’s growing influence as it tries to overtake the United States as the world’s largest economy. Tensions between the two countries over Taiwan have risen significantly since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in August.
