This Cigarette Company Will Donate Over Rs 37 Billion To 6 States Of America, Know What Happens
Colombia. Embattled e-cigarette maker JUUL Labs Inc. will pay $462 million to settle lawsuits filed by six states and the District of Columbia. JUUL has settled cases in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Mexico and New York over alleged sales of underage vapers. The company denies any wrongdoing, saying it’s a “near total resolution” of legal claims, and has settled more than $1 billion in legal claims with 47 states and territories.
Today’s settlement, led by New York Attorney General Leticia James and California Attorney General Rob Bonta, is the largest ever announced with the states. After that, JUUL will now have to keep its products behind retail store counters and verify the age of customers who sell or promote products online.
Under pressure from regulators, Juul pulled most of its flavors from the market in 2019 and halted most of its advertising. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration briefly banned the products last June, though it ended the ban and agreed to reconsider action after the company appealed.
