New Delhi. America has clarified its position on India’s purchase of oil from Russia. US Under Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said on Wednesday that the United States was pleased with India’s approach to buying oil from Russia. At the same time, he said there was no question of banning India as the relationship between the two countries is very important.

According to the ANI news agency, when asked by the media about India’s purchase of oil from Russia, Donfried said that we are not considering imposing sanctions on India. Our relations with India are the most productive relations. They hailed India’s support to the Ukrainian people by providing humanitarian aid and also hailed India’s call to immediately end Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine.

He added that by the end of this decade, Russian oil and gas production will decrease by 50%. We don’t believe in the no-go policy. We have no problem with the position taken by India. The results are already visible in Russia’s budget deficit. The US Under Secretary of State further said that we welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertion that today’s era is not one of war.

Along with that, he said we welcome Prime Minister Modi’s comments on dialogue and diplomacy during the G20 summit in Bali in November last year. He said India’s leadership role as chair of the G20 is commendable. Apart from that, he also targeted Putin. He said that by weaponizing Russia’s oil and gas resources, Putin has shown that Russia will never again be a reliable energy supplier. Russia has also raised world oil and gas prices, which continues around the world.
