Washington: America slammed a big hammer on China’s famous and giant tech companies, because America banned Chinese telecom equipment citing “national security”. The United States has banned the sale of communications equipment made by five Chinese companies, including Chinese companies Huawei, ZTE. According to the Reuters news agency, the Joe Biden administration has banned the approval of new telecommunications equipment by Chinese companies Huawei Technologies and ZTE because they pose an “unacceptable risk” to the national security of the United States.
The FCC, or the US Federal Communications Commission, said on Friday: “Today we passed new rules prohibiting communications equipment deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to national security from being authorized for import or sale in the United States”. The rule prohibits the sale or import of equipment made by Chinese surveillance equipment maker Dahua Technology Co Ltd, Hangzhou CCTV company Hikvision Digital Technology Co Ltd and telecommunications company Hytera Communications Corp Pvt Ltd, to the exception of Huawei and ZTE.
This decision by America means that now these five companies can no longer buy goods from China and sell them in America, nor will their products be approved for sale in America. America has hammered China’s giant tech companies at a time when its relationship with China is deteriorating even further. The United States fears that Beijing could use Chinese technology companies to spy on Americans.
FCC Chairman Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement that these new rules are an important part of our ongoing work to protect the American people from telecommunications-related national security threats. However, Huawei declined to comment on this action from America. Not only that, JTE, Dahua, Hikvision, and Hytera also declined to comment on it.
Indeed, in March 2021, the so-called “coverage list” (which lists both equipment and services) named five Chinese companies Huawei, ZTE, Hytera Communications Corp Hikvision and Dahua under a law of 2019 aimed at protecting American communication networks. to national security. This decision was supported by Republicans and Democrats. The FCC was planning to ban all device authorizations for all of these companies starting in June 2021.
