Moscow: President Vladimir Putin has offered to replace Yevgeny Prigozhin with a senior mercenary named Andrei Troshev, amid uncertainty over the future of the Wagner Group following the failed uprising in Russia. According to Russian newspaper Kommersant, five days after the failed Wagner Group uprising in late June, Putin met with Prigozhin and several senior Wagner fighters.
According to NDTV, Putin offered the Wagner mercenaries several choices regarding their professions, including the possibility of continuing to fight against Ukraine under the leadership of Andrei Troshev. According to EU sanctions documents, Andrei Troshev is known as “Sedoi” or “Grey Hair”. Troshev is a retired colonel, one of the founding members and executive director of the Wagner Group.

Who is Andrei Troshev?
Born in Leningrad (Saint Petersburg) in the former Soviet Union in April 1953, Troshev’s role as “chief of staff” of the Wagner Group’s operations in Syria is detailed in the sanctions documents of the EU.
