Tbilisi. Georgia’s national airline banned the country’s president from using its services. According to news received from the Russian news agency Tass (TASS), the founder of Georgian Airways took this action against the president for opposing the restoration of flight services with Russia.

Russia recently announced that it was lifting a 4-year ban on direct flights to Georgia and Georgians traveling to Russia are visa-free. At the same time, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili urged Georgian authorities to thwart the Russian initiative, but the airline ignored her appeal and banned her from flying.

Tamaz Gyashvili, who is also the founder of private company Georgian Airways, indirectly targeted Zurabishvili on Sunday, saying she was “not welcome on the plane” and would be banned until she “apologizes to the people of Georgia”.
